Our Story
Eight Years of Building Something That Lasts
Every company has a founding story. Ours begins in October 2018, when Stratos Trading Limited was incorporated with a clear and deliberate vision: to redefine the standards of marine fuel trading in West Africa and, eventually, across the continent.
The vision was ambitious. The starting point was intentionally modest. Within two months of our founding, we completed our inaugural importation of a 10,000 metric tonne cargo of Automotive Gas Oil. It was our first proof of concept, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
By 2019, we had established ourselves as a trusted AGO bunker supplier to International Oil Companies operating in Nigerian waters. The relationships we built during that period, grounded in reliability, transparency, and consistently documented deliveries, became the foundation of the reputation we carry today.
2022 marked a pivotal turn. Recognising the seismic shift that the IMO 2020 sulfur cap had created in global marine fuel markets, we ventured into Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil trading. It was a strategic move that positioned Stratos at the leading edge of West Africa's bunkering evolution, and by 2023 we had consolidated significant VLSFO export and bunker trade volumes, streamlining our processes and expanding our client base in the process.
In 2026, we reached a milestone that reflects how far we have come. Stratos Trading completed the acquisition of its first two owned vessels, Stratos 1 (The Cruiser) and Stratos 2 (The Wind), adding them to an operational fleet that now includes MT Maria Soltin, MT Odyssey, and MT Fiyoubo. Five dedicated bunker barges, fully under our control, give us the delivery capability to match the ambitions we set out with in 2018.
Hundreds of successful supplies later, our dedication to unparalleled quality and service to the global market has not changed. The scale has grown. The standards have not moved.
The Best of Our Story Is Still Ahead
We are still building, still growing, and still raising the bar. If you want to be part of what comes next, we would love to hear from you.
